Brief presentation:
Presented at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, the Carrera GTS achieves a perfect balance between sportiness and performance.
Walter Röhrl, two-time World Rally Champion, accurately describes the character of the new GTS: “Wide as a Turbo and sharp as a GT: the 911 Carrera GTS embodies all of Porsche’s racing DNA and authentic 911 culture.”
The sportiest member of the 911 Carrera family is instantly recognizable by the Carrera GTS lettering on the sides and rear, the aerodynamic appendages, and the quad exhaust tips with polished internals coated with nanotechnology materials.
The rear body, 44 millimeters wider than the Carrera S, further accentuates the dynamism of the new GTS.
The 19″ black RS Spyder wheels with center locks, polished outer edges, and 305/30 rear tires are particularly attractive.
The new features continue inside, where the premium Alcantara upholstery is immediately noticeable on the gearshift and handbrake levers, steering wheel rim, and the center panel of the front seats.
The three-spoke Sport Design steering wheel is also new, with light-alloy shift paddles for the PDK transmission, while the center console features a 6.5-inch touchscreen color display for the PCM system. Rear seats are not included, but can be requested at no extra cost.
The timeless boxer engine, mounted over the rear axle, has been enhanced with the PowerKit: thanks to a new intake manifold and a sports exhaust system, the 3.8-liter six-cylinder direct gasoline injection (DFI) engine unleashes 408 horsepower, 23 more than the Carrera 2 mk2 and only 27 in less than the GT3.
Maximum torque is 420 Nm delivered at 4,200 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an optional 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission.
The PDK shifts incredibly quickly, ensuring significantly superior performance and thrills: 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) happens in just 4.4 seconds, dropping to 4.2 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus, and reaches a top speed of 306 km/h (190 mph).
The technical package is completed by the adaptive suspension (PASM) and the stability control system (PSM), both standard on the 911 GTS.
